HamburgAmbassador

HamburgAmbassador

“We, the HamburgAmbassadors, give our city a personal voice around the world. We build bridges and position the city and its Metropolitan Region abroad.”
People all over the world feel connected to Hamburg - either because they were born here or have lived, studied or worked in the city for a while. Some of these people have taken on important positions in society or in the business or cultural world in their current places of residence. Yet, despite the distance, they still feel a strong connection to Hamburg as their (adopted) home city.

This strong bond offers the Hanseatic city huge potential for networking across the globe. That is why the Senate Chancellery, the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and stakeholders involved in marketing Hamburg have developed the HamburgAmbassador programme. It is one of the most important aims of the Hamburg Senate to promote international awareness of Hamburg. These efforts have resulted in an innovative network that opens up new opportunities in terms of advertising, image promotion and active location marketing. A total of 31 people in 25 countries across the world are acting as honorary representatives
.
On January 18, 2020, Mirco Nowak was officially appointed HamburgAmbassador in Russia by the First Mayor. From his base in the capital city of Moscow, he will act as an ambassador to present Hamburg's special features and advantages, champion the interests of the metropolis on the Elbe on a supraregional level, and sustainably market northern Germany as a center of business and science.

Mirco Nowak advises Hamburg companies targeting the Russian market with the intention of localizing there. He is also open for contacts with Russian companies interested in establishing and developing their business in Hamburg or in cooperation with Hamburg. He initiates interactions between academic institutions to promote international projects and focuses on establishing a joint network of Hamburg clusters and Russian regional initiatives.

Aware of the special responsibility in difficult times, Nowak is currently keeping a low profile and using the opportunities arising in the countries of Central Asia to make Hamburg better known there and to establish networks for good trade connections and relations.
